About Studio Furthermore

Home to artists Marina Dragomirova & Iain Howlett, Studio Furthermore seeks out new kinds of material and cultural realities informed by processes occurring in nature. The two artists met at the Royal College of Art while studying the Design Products MA course and founded their studio soon after in 2015. Studio Furthermore creates design objects in glass, ceramic, metal and other materials blending aspects of craft with future narratives. "Our design thinking often begins long before an object, we are interested in designing the making process itself and sometimes even the materials we use."

Studio Furthermore's work can be found in the permanent collections of the Vitra Design Museum, The MAK Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna and the CID Grand Hornu in Belgium. In 2025 their Moon Rock project will be permanently installed on the Moon with the Moon Gallery in collaboration with ESA.

The studio has been invited to participate internationally at various exhibitions including the The Venice Glass Week exhibition Light Blowing Murano in 2017, The Gent Design Museum exhibition Poème Brut in 2018 and also curated the solo show REPLICA at the Aram Gallery London in 2017. The studio regularly exhibits work with Nilufar Gallery in Milan and Seeds Gallery in London.

Studio Furthermore has been presented in numerous publications such as the hardback books New Wave Clay published by Frame and Why Materials Matter published by Prestel in 2018. A major article about the studio has been published in The Financial Times on Sunday entitled Radical Materials and the pair are featured in the documentary film 'Materials: The Making of Ceramic'. In 2021 the studio was included in the prestigious AD100 Best Designers list.
